How we would like you to help us:
We want to talk with family members and paid support staff about the death of a person with a learning disability who they knew well and who did not die from cancer or dementia. We want to find out about what happened at the end of that person's life
We would arrange a conversation with you to talk about what it involves.
We appreciate that this is a very sensitive subject for you but we would support you through the process. It would be like a conversation.
We want to use the information you and others might give us to improve the care people with learning disabilities receive at the end of life.
Who can take part:
We want to talk with family members and paid support staff about the death of a person with a learning disability who they knew well, and who died at least 6 months ago, but not longer than 2 years ago.
For this study we are interested in talking to relatives and paid carers of people who did not die from cancer or dementia
How you can help:
We would like you to talk to an experienced team member online or over the phone for around 45 - 60 minutes. During this interview, they will ask you about your experiences of what happened at the end of the person’s life.
Before the interview takes place we will discuss the study with you and send you more detailed information. We will then ask you to consent to take part. (You can find this detailed information here.)
The interview will be arranged at a time that suits you. We will ensure that the whole process is respectful and accessible to everyone involved.
Will the interview be anonymised?
Yes, all the information you tell us will be anonymised. Nobody will not be able to be trace it back to yourself.
